Levels
There will be two levels of competition offered, Amateur and

Level is designed for those teams with extensive competition
clogging experience. The choice to enter Amateur or Challenge will
be made by the director and or contestant. Amateur level entries
can enter Challenge level categories with a separate entry fee. Challenge
level contestants can only enter Challenge level entries.
Dance-Off Rules
Only the three Grand Champion winners in each of the money-awarding
categories will be eligible for the Lonestar Team Shoot Out.
The Overall First Place Team will be selected to represent
their category in the Lonestar Team Shoot Out. A team
can only qualify once. If a director has two or more teams
qualify for the Dance-Off and those teams are made up of 50%
or more dancers of the other team, then the director
of the qualifying teams must decide witch team competes in the
Dance-Off.
If a team has won First Place in two qualifying categories, they
will be required to choose which category they wish to represent in
the Dance Off. If this occurs, the Second Place team in the un-chosen
category will then be eligible for the Dance Off. If that Second Place
team has already qualified in another category, then the Third Place team
will move into the open slot. If the Third Place team has already
qualified in another category, then that category will not be represented
in the Dance Off.
Rule's Menu
"Star" Points
A special incentive has been designed for those teams who travel and
compete at other qualifying competitions after they have already received
official bids to the "Showdown of Champions." This "Star" system is designed
to select the order of dance per category at the "Showdown of Champions."
Once a team has placed in the top four of a particular qualifying category,
they have already received a bid to the "Showdown of Champions." The top
four teams in each category will receive "Star" points. The "Star" point
system is as follows:
Challenge
1st Place Overall - 5 *****
2nd Place Overall - 3 ***
3rd Place Overall - 2 **
Amateur
1st Place Overall - 5 *****
2nd Place Overall - 3 ***
3rd Place Overall - 2 **
4th Place Overall - 1 *
The "Star" points will be
accumulated throughout the entire qualifying
season. At the completion of the qualifying season, the "Star" achieving
teams will be ranked in order of the number of "Stars" received. The team
receiving the most "Stars" in a particular category gets the first selection
of their place of dance at the "Showdown of Champions." Then the 2nd highest
"Star" achieving team gets to select their place in the order of dance at
the "Showdown of Champions" and so on... If two teams have the same amount
of "Stars", a coin toss will decide who gets to choose first between the two.

Amateur Team Competition
Amateur Team competition provides an opportunity for teams never having
received first place at prior clogging competitions to compete against other
such teams for the Amateur Team Championship Title at the "Showdown of
Champions." This division is designed to provide new and less experienced
teams an opportunity to experience competitive clogging.
Amateur Team competition will be available in the five (5) Team Qualifying
Categories offered (Standing Line, Moving Line, Precision, Hoedown and
Artistic Expression). A team may compete in the Amateur Team division at any
of the regional qualifying competitions that choose to offer any or all of
the Amateur Team categories.
Teams that compete in the Amateur Team Division are not prohibited from
competing in the Challenge Team categories at any of the regional qualifying
competitions. However, if an Amateur Team should place first in the Challenge
Division for the "Showdown of Champions," they are prohibited from competing
in the Amateur division in that particular category for the remainder of the
regional qualifying competitions.
Amateur Teams can compete for two (2) consecutive
C.C.A. calendar years (January to December). If your team competed in 1999
as an Amateur Team they may also compete in 2000 as an Amateur Team. Amateur
Teams will be asked to complete a Amateur Registration/Information form at
their first competition of the year. This will help C.C.A. keep up with the
years that you will participate as an Amateur Team.
